BluBlocker. Quite possibly the most perfect sunglass.
price: 15$ (seriously)

I’ve been wearing these sunglasses for the past few years. I have a pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarers and a pair of Sarengeti Aviators that were the price of about 20 pairs of BluBlockers a piece, but they never see the light of day. Yes, they really cost 15$.  I bought 5 pairs at the beginning of this summer, I have a tendency to lose glasses and people also have a tendency to “accidentally” steal my things. The thing is, I’d buy these at 150$ a pair. They’re incredibly durable, they draw attention in a “look at me, I’m wearing sunglasses 1/5 the price of yours and I look better”, kind of way. Undoubtedly stylish, in fact iconic. A classic form that is strictly functional.

All style and price aside, the true draw is the way the world is seen through the lens. Upon wearing the glasses for about 3 days (I generally wear them day and night) my perception of the world is slightly altered. I’ve heard them referred to as “happy glasses” and slighty psychotropic. They do what they claim to do- block the blu- or blue light waves. This leaves the wearer with a romantic yet post-apocalyptic perception of their surroundings. This perception is not a bent mirror kind of gimmick, it is tremendously functional. I bring several pair on any outdoor excursion because I will undoubtedly be asked to let some one borrow the frames in exchange for theirs. So far the only fair trade I’ve had is with the Tom Ford TF002 Falconer which is a 450 dollar pair of frames.

The glasses cost 15$, it’s like finding an original Basquiat at a garage sale in North Jersey. I feel like the people at BluBlocker forgot to add a decimal point on their final sale price. What does this mean? You should buy 5 pairs, give them away to a friend and stop worrying about losing expensive glasses. The form is truly iconic ant the lenses are slightly hallucinagenic. Possibly the best bargain I’ve seen in fashion. The black matte are my personal favorite, but the tortoise vinyl are also immensely sexy. These work on men and women, and make children look like celebrities.

I’d love to see some limited edition finishes in the near future, I’d imagine once this brand gets to the potential in which it’s destined it will be tough to pick up a pair for 15 bucks.

A view through the lenses. Makes everything a little sexier.
